A Results Approval Panel (RAP) must approve assessment results in advance of results being sent to an awarding body for certification. Once the results authentication processes (IV and EA) are completed a RAP meeting is convened.
RAP meetings are scheduled according to the QQI window and a calendar of dates is circulated annually, by the QA team, to all centres and published on the KCETB QA Portal and Website. RAP’s comprehend all awarding bodies including QQI.
At this meeting the RAP confirms, or otherwise, that assessment of learner evidence and authentication of assessment results (including IV and EA) has been carried out in line with Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board’s quality assurance process. It reviews fairness and consistency in the assessment process and reviews the validity of the results produced. It is Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board‘s policy that all results are provisional until they have been formally approved at a RAP meeting.
RAP’s consider additional quality assurance matters including:
- Learner numbers
- Learner outcomes (eg successful / unsuccessful / completion)
- Centre provision and validation
- Centre overview
- Any quality assurance issues arising to be addressed
The first PLC combined RAP took place on the 29th of May 20149, with the first KCETB wide RAP taking place on the 28th of May 2020.
Membership of the RAP consists of:
- Director of Further Education and Training
- Training Services Manager
- 2 Adult Education Officers
- QA Co-ordinator
- QA Officer
- QA Staff Officer
- Other Co-ordinators as required
